SECOND PLACE!!!!!

I've made a resolution to participate in every trivia pub night in Los Angeles and San Francisco. I had already made the decision that winning or even placing might be kind of hard so as long as I just participate I will be completing my resolution. Well, last night at my "regular" trivia night at the Cock 'n Bull we placed 2nd and won $20!!! Our team, recently officiated as "Tears for Beers", usually end up anywhere between 6th and 9th out of an average of a dozed teams; last night was a definite victory.

Last night was also an especially hard night. Questions like What is a car model named for a city in Mexico? Name 4 MLB Hall of famers with the last name Robinson. Who was Boulder Dam renamed after? Name the bad who was originally called "Two Tons of Fun". These are hard questions people. We actually finished the first round with a whopping 2 points. 2. We managed to come up from behind with some lucky guesses. I guessed right about the Boulder Dam question. Our winning answer was a bonus answer that boosted us 20 points into the lead. In which state is the Grand Coulee Dam located? I had this crazy feeling of Washington and so did most of the team But we didn't say anything because a lot of our answers had been wrong earlier. When the timer was ticking down to turn in our answer we all spoke up at the same time. We actually didn't really keep track of our scores too much so we didn't know what was coming. In the end technically we came in third but the real 2nd place team had like ten people! Anything over a team of 5 disqualifies you from winning cash prizes.

When Tears for beers was called as a second place winner we had a good 5 seconds of stunned silence in our group and wide eyes. Followed by a lot of screaming and disbelief. So we made a member of our group the official treasurer and we plan to hold on to that $20 for a round of beers next week. I love beer and trivia! Now if I could only find a pub that allowed a lifeline call . . .

That's pretty awesome...I love trivia. Forget the pubs, you've hit the big time: it's time for Jeopardy.
