I've really been missing home and all of the convenience of being able to get good Chinese pastries and food within 20 minutes.
As a goodbye lunch for my friend who just got a job up north we had dim sum. We drove all the way out to Artesia which is a good hour away even longer with traffic. We ate at a restaurant that has locations in Taipei and Japan. We had dumplings for days and it was pretty good. It wasn't the push cart kind of dim sum place, which was rather disappointing, it was the kind of place where you ordered from a piece of paper. I'll be Yelping it soon.
After, I was craving some sponge cake or light Chinese cake. Across the parking lot was a bakery that looked promising. The bakery wrapped all of it's breads and pastries in individual baggies, I've never liked bakeries that did that. Anyway, had the sponge cake. *intentionally long pause* I want to come home so bad. Eff the horrible Chinese bakeries down here, Eff the Chinese food down here, Eff it all. I really is too much to ask for good Chinese food. I'm pretty sure it's like asking for "Angelinos" (That's what they call themselves) to stop driving their cars for a day. So so sad.
